It's a problem we see routinely while making enquiries into companies for our clients - directors who either appear to not exist, or in some cases directors who are not even aware they are a company director - but the days of fraudlent companies using either fictitious directors, or even assigning people as directors of companies without their knowledge, look to be limited!
The Government have announced today that there will be reforms to Companies House, and under these plans, directors will have to have their identity verified by Companies House before they can be appointed. Identity verification will take place through a fast, efficient, digital process and is expected to take a matter of minutes.
